Summer in the mountains

In summer, Alta Badia offers a breath-taking experience, a charming mix of relaxation and activities, ancient culture and unspoilt nature, lively events and solemn silence. Numerous paths branching off from San Leonardo allow the guests of Maria Chalet apartments to reach on foot almost every corner of Alta Badia: the sanctuary of Santa Croce, the meadows of Armentara, the lakes of Lech dla Lunch and Lech da Sompunt, the deer park Paraciora. The characteristic Farm Trail (Tru dles Viles) evokes past times, yet climbing the Fanes plateau, a part of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, one has a unique opportunity to contemplate the geological layers dating back thousands of years.

Another area where nature reigns supreme is in the nearby Puez-Geisler Nature Park: few facilities, stunning views and wild scenery, where every hike turns into a small adventure. Climber are inevitably attracted by Sasso di Santa Croce and by the famous climbing routes and via ferratas of the Sella Group and of the Fanis-Lagazuoi area. Cycling enthusiasts in Alta Badia will be spoilt for choice between numerous off-road trails through wildflower meadows, that range from easy tours to real challenges for expert mountain bikers.

In the meantime, road cyclists can put their breath and muscles to the test along the routes of the Giro d'Italia and of the Maratona dles Dolomites, tackling the ups and downs of the most renowned passes of the Dolomites.
